Storyjumper: Sample and SWOT Analysis

Storyjumper is an online tool that allows users to create digital picture books with images and audio. Users can publish their creations on the Storyjumper website and access books created by other users. This tool provides graphics and images to accompany text, along with audio capability so that users can add in their own voices.

SWOT Analysis:
  • Strengths: The strength of this tool is its capability to provide students with a unique way to express their understanding of different topics. Students create books with visual and audio aids that help them create an account of their knowledge on a topic. This tool is also flexible in its possibilities; users can create books on any topic for any subject.
  • Weaknesses: The format of the books in Storyjumper is somewhat rigid. Visually, the effect of Sotryjumper is no different from a Powerpoint or Google Slides presentation.
  • Opportunities: Storyjumper allows for users to create digital books on any topic. The in-cite supply of images and graphics creates an easy to navigate experience. This tool also allows users to access digital books on a multitude of different subjects. Students can express themselves visually and audibly with this tool.
  • Threats: Students may get too caught up in the storybook aspect of the tool and waste time on decorative choices instead of content.
Storyjumper could be used in a classroom that emphasizes UDL principles. This tool would make a great option for students to use in order to express their understanding of class content. It creates a unique presentation opportunity with both visuals and audio; allowing students to present information in ways that work best for them. Storyjumper also allows students to encounter information in a format that they are used to seeing: storybooks.

I created a sample artifact using this tool, and it can be accessed via the link below!
